Reflective Practice
In reflective practice sessions, we offer a structured space in which staff can reflect on their relationships with a child or children they work with. Although the child is not actually present, we encourage teachers to explore and gain greater insight into the challenges that a particular child or group of children bring, and into their own reactions.
This work is based on the knowledge that those who work in emotionally demanding jobs need a safe, secure space in which to open up about the stresses and strains of their role. The work is high-support/high-challenge, and is based on a sound, trusting relationship between counsellor and teacher.
Each session lasts 50 minutes, and we recommend that they take place no less frequently than once monthly.
